Being a foodie is not only about learning local recipe’s its about travelling the world with your meal. you don’t have to travel the world physically, you can do that in the confine of your kitchen by learning and preparing different cuisine’s from different countries. Share the wondrous experience with your special friends and family, take them to Italy this week with this easy shrimp Alfredo recipe
Ps: you can get all the ingredients in stores or at the market
To create this savory dish here’s what you’ll need;
2 Tbsp butter
1 garlic clove
1/3 cup white wine (I used Ste Chapelle Chardonay ~$6)
3/4 lb fettuccine or penne pasta
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
S&P to taste
Sprinkle of paprika
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/3 cup parmesan cheese
1 Tbsp oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
Parsley or basil for garnishing if you wish,
What To Do;
*Cook 3/4 lb fettuccini noodles in salted water and drain ( do not rinse after draining )
*Lightly season shrimp with pepper, paprika and salt, allow it to medium heat then add 1tbsp of oil and then fry turning each side as they turn pink. remove and put in a seperate bowl.
*In the same pan, add onion and 2Tbsp of butter, saute onion till it turns golden brown then stir in garlic for a minute then add 1/3 cup of white wine and reduce the heat to low to allow simmer
*Stir in cream and allow simer for 2 min then sprinle 1/3 parmesan (add more for taste) and stir until creamy and smooth then add 1/4 tsp paprika and season with a bullion cube.
*Turn heat off and stir in the cooked shrimp and drained pasta, garnish with mint, parsley, basil or extra parmesan.
Tip: Add black pepper into the cream mix if you love spice
